Record breaking cycling attempt to raise vital funds for cancer treatment and much more...

Due to terminal cancer I am planning what will be a brutally tough everesting challenge in 2024 I hope this challenge will help me by raising funds for future treatments, some overseas. I am not ready to die and want more time with my wife and children. It will be incredibly tough and involve around 20 hours of cycling up a hill in Yorkshire over 40 times to record almost 9,000 of metres vertical ascent. Hard for a healthy individual to do let alone someone who is riddled with cancer!

I also hope for this event to:

Help raise broader awareness of my cancer type- It is very deadly, one of the most severe types of stage 4 cancer. Unlike other cancer types where levels are falling, numbers have been rising steadily over the last few years. It’s affects predominantly younger people like me with young families, most led very healthly lifestyles and many were either symptomless of failed by the health system in their diagnosis. These people die each day typically within a year or two post diagnosis leaving their young family behind. Often it’s miss-interpreted by the press, UK standard of UK for such a disease is lacking

Inspire other sufferers - Many of us are often too ill, don’t live long enough and not able to be heard, hopefully this event will help and also help inspire others. Not to suffer in silence and do not be afraid to dream of things and change

Use this event also as an opportunity to get recognition and awareness of key organisations and charities - Most importantly the FB GROUP -BBRAF. A group of patients and carers pivotal in helping people like me. Outside of my fundraising and this group. At a more granular level provides a bit of exposure I think for other good groups like small cycling orgs for example

Inspire my kids and wife - they will remember what I did and have been part of it

Tick an item off my bucketlist - as a keen cyclist I was planning this event pre cancer and in a good time. Regardless of time be amazing to attempt it

Provides some excitement and fun for my wife and - life in the surounds of someone like me is tough and limiting. This provides some change and fun
